Huehuetenango

"This is a consistent, high quality green coffe from Guatemala that I have in my regular rotation for my small coffee roasting business. I usually roast to right around 187 degrees for a nice medium roast in the Aillio Bullet. The mild, citrus acidic flavor is a hit with my regulars!"

New Hobby

"New to home roasting and just trying things out. I was looking for organic with less of a fruity taste and in the medium to dark roast realm and this seems to meet the bill. Excited to get better at roasting and enjoying this more and more. The beans are quite smaller than the whole beans from my most recent Starbucks house blend bag but I like the flavor loads more personally."

Coffee? Or Hot Chocolate?

"I’m new to coffee roasting, so not a lot of experience here. My 18th roast, 227 grams of Huehuetenango, was done on 4/6/25 in my Cafemasy roaster and came out 193 grams at 20 minutes for 14. 9% loss, or Full City. I followed that up with a 228 gram batch that came out 190 grams at 20 minutes for 16. 6% loss, or French. I blended the two, and waited 72 hours to brew. I thought I had a cup of silky hot chocolate! When FRC offered its Earth Day Sale for (I think) 20% off I rushed to order 7 pounds more. It arrived promptly (with free shipping) to boot. I have roasted 2 pounds more, all to Full City, and have not gotten the chocolate note again. Next time I’ll go for French and see."

Solid favorite

"I have a strong preference for Central American coffees, after visiting Costa Rica and experiencing their superb beans. But I also insist on purchasing organic, fair trade coffee whenever possible, both for my benefit and that of the growers and workers. These beans are great roasted to a medium+ level. . . just before second crack. Lovely chocolate notes."

Rich, sweet, and smooth. Crowd pleaser!

"This is one of my handful of favorites. Rich with tons of body like a Sumatran, smooth and sweet like a Kona or Costa Rican. Acidity is on the low to medium side. At a medium roast expect flavors of milk chocolate and brown sugar with notes of vanilla and a "minerality" central American and South American coffees often have. Up the roast level to medium-dark, and get bittersweet chocolate, earthiness, and toffee. Expect some oily beans, even below full city roast levels."

Crowd Favorite!

"I have been roasting my own coffee beans since March of this year. I currently us a Cafemasy branded roaster. I roasted the Guatemalan Huehuetenango from in a home roaster for private consumption. The roaster I use is the cheaper model from Amazon has a non stick heating surface. I usually put appropriately 9-9.5 ounces of green coffee beans in the roaster at a time with full heat applied. This usually yields about 8 ounces of roasted coffee. This Guatemalan bean is recommended to be a medium roast with a bold flavor. I have found great results when roasting until the first audible crack, plus two additional minutes and then immediately put the beans in a stainless colander. I have an electric fan plugged into an outside outlet that is use to cool the beans while rotating them in the colander. I find that this Guatemalan coffee is great for grinding and consuming the day it is roasted but I find that giving at least a few days of resting in an airtight canister to be beneficial to the development of flavors as well. I am never one to add any flavoring to the coffee that I roast. I find these beans to be of a very high quality and they always seem to roast evenly; even on my cheap setup. I have roasted 8 different organic beans from FRC and the Organic Guatemalan Huehuetenango is by far a crown favorite. After doing some research on green coffee beans for home roasting, I found that Fresh Roasted Coffee is a very reliable source! I highly recommend the coffee and the company distributing it!"

Organic Guatemala Huehuetenango Coffee is Excellent

"Aloha, My wife and I had a coffee farm in Kailua Kona for 10 yrs. where we grew, processed and roasted our own Kona coffee. We know coffee and we love the Guatemala Huehuetenango Organic Coffee. Roast it to 'full city' - about 20 sec. after the first crack and it's perfect."
